These hollow sections have been developed in order to achieve superior atmospheric corrosion resistance. This has been achieved by suitably designing the chemistry, steel making and steel hollow sections making process parameters. One of the most significant advantages of using this hollow section is that it protects structures against corrosion by about 60% more than other conventional steel sections.
These hollow sections are primarily used in coastal structures, harbour structures, open structures without sheeting cover and in structures exposed to chemical fumes that lead to faster corrosion. They are also the best during earthquakes.
